Riverside, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield scored 10 times in the top of the sixth inning, but California Baptist answered with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, and held on for a wild 13-11 victory, in a back-and-forth contest at Totman Stadium, Tuesday evening. Every Roadrunner starter recorded at least one hit, but CSUB fell to 12-15 on the season and 0-4 in midweek outings. The Lancers improved to 20-7, sweeping a home-and-home series with Bakersfield.Â
The Roadrunners used 13 hits and seven walks to score their 11 runs, with Evan Rice, James Bell, AJ Miller, Andrew Allanson and Bailey Seeger each recording a pair of hits.
Allanson belted his team-leading seventh home run of the season in CSUB's 10-run sixth and finished with four runs batted in, bringing his RBI total to 26 in 26 games. Evan Rice drove in a pair, tying the game at six in the sixth with his second single of the evening.Â
Mitchel Simon had four hits for the Lancers, while Chad Castillo and Jake Skipworth each had three.Â
David Roderick made his first appearance as a Roadrunner out of the bullpen and did not allow a base runner over 2.1 innings of action, while striking out two.Â
CBU's Liam Rocha worked the final three innings to earn his second save of the season, as the two teams combined to score just one run in the games final three innings after scoring 17 total in the sixth inning.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED...
B2 | Mitchel Simon put the Lancers on the board in the bottom of the second, reaching on a single through the left side before stealing a bag and scoring on a wild pitch. Two batters later Harrison Spohn singled in David Martin who had doubled with two outs.

B4 | Spohn worked a one-out walk and advanced to third on a single and an error in right field. He eventually scored on a throwing error on a pick-off play at first base.

B5 | The Lancers loaded the bases in the fifth and scored on three consecutive plate appearances to push their lead to 6-0. Spohn walked in a run for his third RBI of the night, Chad Castillo plated a run with a ground out to second base and Jake Skipworth drove in a run with a single through the left-side.

T6 | Bakersfield erupted for 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning, sending 14 men to the plate and racking up nine base hits. Andrew Allanson struck the big blow with a three-run home run off the scoreboard in left. He also picked up an RBI single to put CSUB on the board and finished the inning with four runs driven in. Jashia Morrissey, Bailey Seeger, Daniel Carrizosa and AJ Miller also posted RBI singles, while Evan Rice drove in a pair with a hot shot through the hole on the right side.

B6 | The Lancers answered immediately in the bottom of the frame when Mitchel Simon jumped on a fastball and belted a two-run homer to pull CBU within 10-8, before Castillo and Skipworth hit back-to-back RBI singles to even the score. Russell Stevenson put his team back on top with a three-run home run to left-center field with two away.

NOTABLE...
• The Roadrunners fell to 0-4 in Tuesday night contests this season and dropped the season series with California Baptist 0-2. CSUB lost a 4-3 decision at Hardt Field earlier this year.
• CSUB and their midweek opponents have combined for 67 runs in four games this season, an average of total 16.6 runs per contest.
• CSUB scored double digit runs for the third time this season. All three occasions have come in the team's last ten contests. Â
• The Roadrunners sent 14 men to plate in the sixth inning, racking up nine hits and a walk en route to 10 runs scored. Aaron Casillas, who laid down a sacrifice bunt in his only plate appearance in the inning was the lone Roadrunner not to record a hit or a run scored in the inning.
• Bakersfield opened their explosive sixth inning with five consecutive base hits.
• AJ Miller and Andrew Allanson both had two hits in CSUB's 10-run sixth inning. Miller finished the frame with an RBI and two runs scored, while Allanson drove in four and scored twice.
• Allanson is now tied for fifth all-time in single-season, school history with seven home runs on the year. He sits just five shy of matching Martin Medina's program record 12, set in 2010.
• Right-hander David Roderick battled back from injury to make his first appearance as a Roadrunner - and his first since his 2019 freshman season at Oklahoma - tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and striking out a pair.
