MALIBU, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield dropped a pair of beach volleyball contests to nationally ranked opponents Saturday morning.

The Roadrunners lost 5-0 to No. 2 Pepperdine (11-1) in the opener. Pepperdine won all five matches in straight sets by the Waves. At No. 1 Carol Grasso and Sara Little took Madalyn Roh and Delaney Knudsen to 22-20 in the second set before bowing out.

CSUB dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 20 Cal Poly (6-7) to conclude the day. The Mustangs would sweep the ‘Runners in each of the five matches. At No. 5, the duo of Fabiana Andrade and Hannah Manzanres lost 21-17 in the first set to Dora Beilin and Holland Boerge before losing 28-26 (the highest scoring game of the season) in the second.

“We competed on a much better level today,” said CSUB head coach Cesar Benatti. “We are still missing that consistency that we have been talking about for the last few weeks. We have improved from last week to this week and we will keep working hard and chasing solutions for our weaknesses.”

CSUB (0-8) returns to action when the Roadrunners travel to the Arizona Wildcat Spring Challenge Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
