BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—For the final time this season, the CSU Bakersfield wrestling team hits the Icardo Center mat Friday night when the Roadrunners host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m.
CSUB will begin the night with a pre-match technique clinic from 5-6 p.m. that will be conducted by former Roadrunner Pac-12 place winner Reuben Franklin. Prior to the start of the dual against the Bears, the ‘Runners will honor seniors Alex Encarnarcion-Strand and Everett Pratt. For more information on the clinic, call 661-654-2343.
CSUB (4-5, 1-2 Pac-12) is coming off a 0-2 week, losing to 32-8 to No. 21 North Dakota State and 21-18 to Cal Poly last Saturday in Santa Maria. Russell Rohlfing won both of his 141-pound matches last week by tech fall. He is a team leading 21-8 and has won three in a row by tech fall. He is ranked in six polls this week. Lorenzo De La Riva also won both his matches last week. The ‘Runner 165-pounder is now 16-9 on the year.
Northern Colorado fell to 1-6 last Sunday after losing 35-6 to No. 14 Oklahoma. Winning for Northern Colorado in the dual were Trey Andrews (125) and Kelilan Torres (165).
Andrews is ranked in three polls with a high of 20th coming in the Amateur Wrestling News top 20. Torres is also ranked in four polls with his highest ranking coming in the Open Mat poll where he is 18th. Former CSUB wrestler, Timmy Box, is tops on the Bears in victories with 21 (21-9). Box is 25th in the current NCAA coaches poll.
CSUB leads the all-time series 5-1 against Northern Colorado.
