BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team heads to Santa Maria Saturday for a tri-dual with No. 21/23 North Dakota State and a Pac-12 competition against Cal Poly.

The Roadrunners (4-3, 1-1 Pac-12) take on the Bison and the Mustangs at Righetti High School. CSUB faces the Bison at 2 p.m. and the Mustangs at 6 p.m.

NDSU is ranked 21st in both the Intermat Dual and 23rd USA Today/NWCA Top 25 poll with a 10-3 record. North Dakota State is 2-1 in Big 12 dual competition. The Bison are led by 125-pounder Josh Rodriguez. A Righetti High School graduate, the redshirt senior is 15-1 and is ranked as high as third in the major rankings this week. CSUB leads the all-time series against the Bison 2-1. Roadrunner head coach Manny Rivera spent the past five seasons as an assistant at North Dakota State.

Cal Poly is 4-7, 0-2 in Pac-12 duals. 157-pounder Colt Shorts is ranked 18th in the current NCAA poll as well as the Amateur Wrestling News poll. Shorts is 17-10 this season. 184-pounder Mitch Woods improved to 10-5 last week after becoming the only Mustang competitor to win both of his matches in duals against Air Force and Wyoming. CSUB leads the all-time series against Cal Poly 29-18-2.

The Roadrunners are 4-3, 1-1 in Pac-12 duals after going 1-1 last week. CSUB and Utah Valley were tied at 17 going into the final bout of their Jan. 19 dual before the Wolverines edged the ‘Runners 21-17. The Roadrunners bounced back to win at Boise State for the first time since 1993, 20-14, last Saturday.

Russell Rohlfing won both of his duals last week to increase his record to team leading 19-8 after last week’s competition. He is ranked in six polls with a high of 14th coming in the Amateur Wrestling News poll.  Sean Nickell (125) is second on the ‘Runners in victories with 17 (17-8). Coleman Hammond won a pair last week to improve his 149-pound mark to 15-5 on the year.
