BAKERSFIELD, Calif.---The CSU Bakersfield (3-2, 0-1 Pac-12) wrestling team heads to the road to compete in dual competition for the first time this season with a pair of away contests this week.

The action gets underway Thursday night when the Roadrunners travel to Utah Valley for a 7 p.m. (MT) start. The dual will be streamed on UVU

Utah Valley is 3-2 after winning its Big-12 opener last Wednesday against Air Force 18-15. UVU’s leaders in victories come in the upperweights. Jordan Karst leads the team in wins with 21. If he doesn’t go, the Wolverines’ other heavyweight, Dustin Dennison is 16-6. 197-pounder, Tanner Orndorff, a redshirt-freshman is 16-10. CSUB leads the all-time series against the Wolverines 2-1.

The weekend concludes with a Saturday Pac-12 dual at Boise State. The dual begins at 12 p.m. (MT). The Broncos are coached by former CSUB head man Mike Mendoza. Boise State is 1-4 in duals, with the CSUB meet marking the first Pac-12 action for the Broncos.

184-pounder Kaydyn Del Toro is first in the opening Pac-12 Coaches Rankings that were released Jan. 9, 2017. Del Toro is 12-12 this season. Austin Dewey (174) and Demetrius Romero (165) are tied for the team lead in victories with 18. Boise State leads the all-time series 11-8.

The Roadrunners split a pair of duals to begin the month of January. CSUB defeated West Virginia 19-18 Jan. 4 before losing 22-15 to No. 21 Stanford in the Pac-12 opener Jan. 8

Redshirt freshman Russell Rohlfing is ranked in five polls this week. His highest ranking is 14th in the Amateur Wrestling News poll. His 17 (17-8) victories lead the ‘Runners this season.
