BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team returns to the mat Sunday when the Roadrunners travel to the 2016 Reno Tournament of Champions. The preliminaries of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with action scheduled to be run throughout the day. Finals are set for 6 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available at

Nationally ranked teams in the USA Today/NWCA Top 25 poll are No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Penn State, No. 5 Missouri, and No. 16 Stanford. Ranked teams in the Intermat poll scheduled to compete are No. 23 Oregon State, and No. 24 Wyoming.

In addition to CSUB, other teams scheduled to wrestle are; Boise State, Campbell, Cal Poly, Clackamas CC, Colorado State-Pueblo, Eastern Oregon (ranked 28th in the NAIA poll), Menlo (ranked fourth in the NAIA poll), Michigan State, Modesto College, Montana State-Northern (ranked fifth in the NAIA poll), Northern Colorado, Pacific (Ore.), Simon Fraser (ranked 19th in the Division II poll), Simpson, Calif. (ranked 29th in the NAIA poll), Southwestern Oregon CC, and Utah Valley.

Redshirt freshman Russell Rohlfing made a deep run at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 2-3. Rohlfing made it to the semifinals before losing by one point (5-4) to Bryce Meredith of Wyoming. He would end up in the third place match where he lost by one (8-7) Cole Martin of Wisconsin. As a result of his fourth place finish, Rohlfing (11-5) is now ranked in five polls. His highest ranking is 14th in the Amateur Wrestling News poll.

With two pins during the Nov. 11 tri-dual against San Francisco State and Rutgers, 197-pounder Matt Williams has moved into 19th in school history in career pins with 20. Williams’ pins have helped him to a 9-2 record this season. He is ranked in four polls this week with a high of 14th in The Open Mat poll.

Redshirt sophomore Sean Nickell is has worked his way into the national rankings after a sixth place finish at the Dec. 2-3 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. At 12-3, Nickell is in two polls with a high of 18th in the Amateur Wrestling News Top 20.
