2008: John Cardenas reversed his freshman season record, finishing two wins over .500 at 15-13...after dropping his opening match at the Menlo Invite, Cardenas rolled off three consecutive wins to place fourth...moved up a weight class from 133 to 141 for the California Collegiates...a 5-2 record at the individual tournament resulted in a fourth place finish.

2007: Cardenas entered the Roadrunners lineup as a freshman, collecting a 13-15 overall record...opened his collegiate career by going 5-2 at the Fullerton Open...won two Pac-10 dual meets including a 5-2 decision over Joey Lucas of Oregon and a 7-5 decision over Ben Lockett of San Francisco State...split time throughout the season with sophomore Thomas Kimbrell.

BRAWLEY UNION HS:
Cardenas joins the Roadrunner wrestling program after a very successful prep career at Brawley Union High School...wrestled to a high school career record of 108-29...placed eighth in the state as a senior at 125 pounds... lost in the first round that year but wrestled all the way back in the consolation bracket for eighth...two-time CIF San Diego Section Division III champion and three-time placewinner...placed third at the CIF San Diego Section Master’s Championships twice...team has won 12 straight Imperial Valley League titles and six straight CIF San Diego Section Division III titles...two-time team MVP...San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic First team...Imperial Valley Press Wrestler of the Year...was named Brawley Union HS Athlete of the Year.

PERSONAL: Cardenas is majoring in philosophy at CSUB...considering attending law school after graduation...parents are Rudy and Rosalina Cardenas.
