ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. — Junior Meggan Bellows shot a team-best 162 over two rounds to lead CSUB’s women’s golf team at the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational women’s golf tournament Tuesday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
The Bakersfield native, who finished in a tie for 53rd overall with rounds of 79 and 83, was the Roadrunners’ top finisher for the second consecutive tournament.
Senior Jennifer Beggs carded rounds of 87 and 76 to place tied for 57th overall, while freshman Jennifer Davison placed tied for 78th with a two-round total of 168.
Sophomores Jenna Barnett and Ashley Neal rounded out the CSUB scoring, both carding 174 for the tournament and finishing in a tie for 92nd.
The ‘Runners finished the tournament with a team score of 662, placing 16th overall in the field of 19 teams.
San Jose State won the team title with a score of 598. Sacramento State was second at 610 and UC Riverside came in third at 613. Xavier’s Mary Beth McKenna won the individual title, carding rounds of 69 and 74 on the par-72 course for a 143 final score.
“We had a good opening to the fall season and we finished strong as well,” said CSUB Head Coach Tracy Draa. “We look forward to getting back on the course in the spring.”
Bakersfield hits the links again in February, competing in the Braveheart Classic in Beaumont, Calif., on Feb. 9-10.
