BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will continue a busy month with another home meet this weekend. On Saturday, Jan. 7, the Roadrunner men will face off against UC San Diego while CSUB’s women will tackle both the Tritons as well as the Lions of Loyola Marymount at the Hillman Aquatic Center.

"The women could come out a double winner if the cards fall in their place," said Chris Hansen, CSUB's Director of Swimming. "Both LMU and UCSD are great teams. All three stack up pretty close to each other. The men will have a tough time. UCSD is really tough this year. Our goal is to race them hard and sneak in some wins, then let our excitement take over."

The ‘Runner women faced both of this weekend’s opponents in a quad meet a year ago in San Diego, Calif. UC San Diego, which entered the week ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II, defeated CSUB in that dual while the ‘Runners took a victory over LMU. CSUB’s men also travelled south to face off against UCSD a year ago. The ‘Runners swam right with the Tritons, but also fell to UCSD by a score of 165-133.

CSUB's women are fresh off of a narrow dual meet defeat at the hands of San Jose State last weekend. The Spartans edged the 'Runners 132-111 here in Bakersfield. The 'Runner men's team will see its first competitive action since swimming at the A3 Performance Invitational in mid-November.

Saturday’s meet is scheduled to begin at noon at the Hillman Aquatic Center. Parking for and admission to the meet is free, while fans who cannot attend can see live results for the first time via the Meet Mobile app, which can be downloaded from the app store. Results and a full recap from the competition will be posted here on after the meet.
