BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s men’s and women’s swimming teams will have a pair of representatives at the AT&T Winter National Championships this week. Junior Lovre Soric will represent the Roadrunner men while senior Dylana Milobar will tackle the national meet for CSUB’s women, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, in Atlanta, Ga.

Soric, a native of Croatia, is prepared to test his skills against some of the best swimmers in the United States. The junior is planning to swim in four events this week: 200 IM, 200 free, 200 back, and 100 free. After winning the Croatian Nationals in the 200 IM, Soric is hoping to close in on a trip to the World Championships next summer while his country will be watching his results from this week’s meet.

“Lovre is seeding pretty well in all of his events,” said Chris Hansen, CSUB’s Director of Swimming. “He will definitely have the chance to have second swims in the finals if he puts up a good race. His confidence should be okay after a great second half of his A3 meet.”

Milobar, who hails from Kamloops, B.C., will compete in the 100 breast in Atlanta and will also time trial in the 200 breast. The senior qualified for the Canadian Olympic Trials a year ago and continues to represent CSUB and her country well.

“Dylana loves to race and here she gets her chance to race some of the best in the world,” Hansen said. “I’m excited to see what she can do. She is still deciding if she will swim this summer at the US Open. She wants the 200 breast cut, too.”

Soric will kick off the Winter Nationals for CSUB on Thursday with the 200 IM and will tackle the 200 free on Friday. Milobar will swim the 100 breast on Saturday while Soric will take on either the 200 back or 100 free that day. The two student-athletes will time trial their other events at some point during the meet.
