BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Senior Day has arrived once again as the CSU Bakersfield men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are prepared to host one final dual meet this season. The Roadrunners will honor their 11 seniors before Saturday’s dual against Fresno Pacific at the Hillman Aquatic Center.

“This meet is always bitter sweet because it’s our seniors’ last dual meet,” said Chris Hansen, CSUB’s Director of Swimming. “For the women, the class of Melissa Gore, Carlee Burks, Paola Hernandez, Dylana Milobar, Felicia Zamora, and Sara Christiansen were my second recruiting class after taking over the program. Like the class before them, they were game changers for CSUB swimming and diving.”

Hansen continued on to talk about what those six women have meant to CSUB: “Although all of them have contributed as competitors and leaders, when I look at last year’s WAC Championships, Paola, Dylana, and Carlee scored a ton of points for us. That’s the bitter sweet part; big points, great leadership, and amazing women, not an easy thing to say goodbye to. On top of Senior Day, they have a tough meet. Fresno Pacific has a ton of international studs. They are not going to be an easy win. The entire team is going to have work for this win.”

The ‘Runner men will also face FPU and Hansen talked about their meet and what they have brought to the university: “The men will also have a tough day as Fresno Pacific has a few very strong international swimmers and divers. This is not in any means going to be a walk in the park for the men. We will be counting on our senior men, Tyler Greenwald, Jack Richey-Luna, Luka Seles, Bryce Timonera, and Nick Vargas to bring some much-needed experience to this young team. Lovre Soric and Owen van Krimpen will also play a big part in helping these men guide this young team. I have sincerely enjoyed this group of men and I would love to see them go out with a big win.”

The dual meet against Fresno Pacific is set for Saturday, Jan. 21, at noon at the Hillman Aquatic Center. Senior Day celebrations will take place just a few minutes before the start of the meet. Admission, as well as parking, will be free for fans. Live results will be available through the Meet Mobile app.
