BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Only two weeks remain in the softball regular season for CSU Bakersfield and the Roadrunners will make this week a busy one with a road doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting Western Athletic Conference leader New Mexico State this weekend. The ‘Runners will also celebrate Senior Day on Saturday as four CSUB seniors will compete in their final home games.

“Senior weekends are always hard,” said Crissy Buck-Ziegler, Head Coach of the ‘Runners. “Playing your last home game is always emotional, but I know that these seniors will play hard for CSUB.”

On Wednesday, Apr. 19, the ‘Runners will get going with a mid-week doubleheader at UC Riverside. The ‘Runners and Highlanders have met 93 times in the all-time series dating back to the 1985 season. Since CSUB moved to NCAA Division I, UCR has enjoyed a 9-4 record against the ‘Runners. The Highlanders have also won the last six contests between the two teams.

Friday and Saturday, Apr. 21-22, will be the final three home games for CSUB seniors Josie Flores, Selena Gonzalez, Lyndsay Klimenko, and Jo Larios. The four seniors and the rest of the ‘Runners will welcome WAC-leading NMSU to Bakersfield.

The Aggies have enjoyed a dominant share of the wins in the all-time series, defeating CSUB in 13 of 19 meetings. The latest laugh, however, went to the ‘Runners as CSUB won back-to-back games against NMSU at the 2016 WAC Tournament and earned the conference title. The championship game came down to one swing as then junior catcher Larios hit a home run with two outs and a full count in the top of the seventh to lead CSUB to a 1-0 victory over the Aggies.

Wednesday’s doubleheader in Riverside, Calif. is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available for fans who cannot make the trip.

All three games of the weekend series will be live streamed. Friday’s single game (2 p.m.) and the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader (1 p.m.) can be watched live on the WAC Digital Network while the series finale (3 p.m.) will be available via the Roadrunner Sports Network. Links for all live stats and live streams are available at the CSUB softball schedule page.
