BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – One final meet remains in the 2017 regular season for CSU Bakersfield's track and field teams and the Roadrunners are headed back to Clovis, Calif. for the Fresno State Invitational Apr. 29.
“The team is coming off some great personal bests and depth chart marks last week,” said CSUB's Director of Track and Field Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. “This will be our final tune-up prior to the WAC Championships.” The ‘Runners will next compete in the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, May 10-13, in Edinburg, Texas.
This weekend, CSUB will return to Clovis for its second-straight meet hosted by Fresno State following a strong showing at the Bulldog Open. On the men's side, Gabe Gaeta will return to action after a week off and will compete in the 400m hurdles. After a new PR last weekend, Tristan Watson will have another go at the 110m hurdles in Clovis.
Alec Benavides will join Watson in the 110m hurdles and will look to earn his second-straight victory in the javelin. Curt Threlkeld will run the 800m race again while fellow freshman Nick Zandes will compete in four events: pole vault, javelin, 110m hurdles, and 400m.
Emmett Wirtz will lead the ‘Runner throwers in the hammer throw and shot put.
For the ‘Runner women, Julianne Finch will tackle the pole vault again after finishing second last weekend. Susannah Vera will compete in the high jump, 400m hurdles, and triple jump for the 'Runners. Micaiah Lugo is set for the hammer throw and discus in Clovis.
