BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s women’s soccer team will take its farthest road trip of the season this weekend as the Roadrunners are set to travel to the East Coast for a pair of matches. On Friday, Sept. 2, the ‘Runners will take on Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. before closing out the weekend at Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. on Sunday.
“This weekend presents a number of challenges for us that we will have to overcome if we want to be successful at the end of the season,” said Gary Curneen, Head Coach of the ‘Runners. “A long road trip across the country and up against strong opposition with different playing styles will test our ability to prepare and adapt to these situations. Hopefully we can keep building on the positives and produce another fighting performance so that we can bring the results back to Bakersfield.”
The Roadrunners will face off against Presbyterian College and Campbell for the first time in the program’s 20-year history. PC comes into the weekend with a record of 1-0-0 after taking a 5-0 victory over Hampton in the team’s season-opener. Campbell entered the week at 2-1-0 and is coming off of a 4-0 loss to Alabama last weekend.
CSU Bakersfield went 0-1-1 last week with a tie on Friday against UTEP followed by a loss on the road to Loyola Marymount. The ‘Runners posted their first shutout of the season in the double overtime draw at home against UTEP and will hope to add a pair of results before heading home for a meeting with Eastern Washington Sept. 9.
Friday’s match at Presbyterian College will be broadcast live via the Big South Network. Links to the video stream and live stats for both matches can be found here.
