The CSUB women's soccer team (3–3–0 overall) will look to defend the Valley Cup Sunday evening as the 'Runners travel to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs at 6 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. The Valley Cup is presented to the winner of the annual meeting between the two Valley rivals. The winning team keeps the cup for the entire calendar year until the two squads meet again. Last season, the Roadrunners won the Valley Cup, defeating the Bulldogs, 2–1, on the Main Soccer Field. Fresno State is still looking for its first win, going 0–5–0 to begin the year. The Bulldogs are the defending Western Athletic Conference champions, going 11–9–2 in 2008.

CSUB opens the weekend with a match against Eastern Washington at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Main Soccer Field. The Eagles are 2–3–0 after beating Eastern Oregon, 3–0, Wednesday evening. The Roadrunners beat the Eagles, 2–1, last season in Cheney, Wash. That game will be followed by the men's soccer regular season home opener against UC Riverside.
