SEATTLE, Wash.- The CSUB Roadrunners will conclude the road portion of their Western Athletic Conference schedule with a Saturday night matchup at Seattle U as the Roadrunners look to build on their seven-game win streak.

Bakersfield defeated Utah Valley in Orem, Utah on Thursday night, not only extending their winning streak to a season-high seven games, but also taking a full-game lead in the WAC standings with four games to play. Seattle U (12-13, 406 WC) has lost two straight after a 102-72 loss at UMKC last Saturday night and a 61-58 loss to Grand Canyon Thursday night.  

The Roadrunners hold a 12-5 all-time series lead over Seattle and have won four straight in the series including a 78-71 win on Jan. 7 in Bakersfield. Dedrick Basile led the ‘Runners with 21 points in that game on 8-12 from the field and 5-5 from three-point range. CSUB shot 47% in that game and 54% (13-24) from three-point range. Seattle was led by Emmanuel Chibuogwu’s 18 points on 7-12 from the field and 4-8 from three-point range. The Redhawks shot 52% in that game.

CSUB continues to have the best defense in the WAC and one of the best defenses in the nation. The ‘Runners are allowing just 63.5 ppg (22nd in the NCAA) while holding opponents to just 38.5% from the field, 6th-best in the NCAA. The Roadrunners are also forcing an average of 17 turnovers per game (10th in NCAA).

Senior forward Jaylin Airington is leading the Roadrunners with 15 ppg and is coming off a 14 point-night at Utah Valley where he was 3-6 from the field and 7-10 from the free-throw line. Sophomore Damiyne Durham is adding 14 ppg and scored 16 points at Utah Valley on 6-11 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Durham has scored 16 points in each of the last three games for the ‘Runners while shooting 36% from three-point range.

Brendan Westendorf leads the Redhawks with 15 ppg, he scored 10 points in the first meeting in Bakersfield on Jan. 7. William Powell and Zach Moore are adding 11 ppg for the Redhawks who are averaging 71.9 ppg while allowing 72 per contest this season.
