BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The CSUB Roadrunners (7-4) play their final home game of 2016 in front of a sellout crowd Thursday afternoon against Bethesda University at the Icardo Center as part of “Education Day.”

The game will tip off at Noon and will be played in front of a packed house of local elementary and middle school kids that are visiting campus for the day and enjoying college basketball. This is the second “Education Day” hosted by the Roadrunners and the first sellout for the event. This marks the third time in less than a year and the second time this season there will be a sellout at the Icardo Center.

The Roadrunners have won two straight following an 81-79 win over Portland State on Saturday night. The ‘Runners were led by Damiyne Durham’s 28 points on 9-16 shooting and 7-13 from three-point range. Jaylin Airington added 19 points for the Roadrunners who won the offensive shootout with 49% shooting from the field and 42% from three-point range.

Bethesda is 5-8 on the season and coming off an 86-83 overtime conference win at University of Antelope Valley on Monday night.  That win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Flames although three of those losses were played as exhibitions and did not count towards their record

The Flames are led by junior forward Jarell Tate who scored 27 points off the bench in Monday night’s win. He leads Bethesda with 16 ppg this season. Freshman forward Alex Smith is averaging 12.5 per game while a trio of other Flames enter the game averaging over 10 point per contest. Bethesda has a high-powered offense averaging 82 ppg this season but they have struggled defensively allowing over 96 ppg this season.                 

CSUB is led by Durham’s 17 ppg while shooting 43% from the field and 39% from three-point range. Durham is ranked 3rd in the nation with 43 three-pointers made this season. Airington is adding 16 ppg for the Roadrunners who also continue to be one of the best defensive teams in the nation allowing just 60.5 ppg which ranks 15th in the NCAA.
