DALLAS, Texas- The CSUB Roadrunners start another two-game road trip on Friday night traveling to Dallas where they will take on SMU at Moody Coliseum at 7 P.M. (CT).
The Roadrunners are coming off a 79-46 win over Pacific Union on Wednesday night behind four players scoring in double figures led by Damiyne Durham’s 19 points and five three-pointers. The ‘Runners also forced 25 turnovers in the game scoring 27 points off the turnovers in the win over the Pioneers.
The Mustangs enter have lost their last two games including a 71-62 loss at Boise State Wednesday night and a 78-73 loss at USC last week. They are led by forward Semi Ojeleye who is averaging 19 points and eight rebounds per game while shooting 51% from the field and 48% from three-point range. He scored 15 in Wednesday night’s loss at Boise State. Shake Milton and Sterling Brown round out the SMU double-digit scoring with 11 apiece per contest. The Mustangs, like the Roadrunners are a strong defensive team allowing just 65.3 ppg, they average 73 per contest.
SMU’s size equates a strong rebounding presence as the Mustangs are outrebounding their opponents by a +13 margin. They are averaging 41 rebounds per game.
“We’re not going to get anyone that’s surprised we’re good anymore and they’ve got a good team,” said CSUB head coach Rod Barnes. “They’re big and athletic and their guards are going to be as big as our post players so we’ve got our work cut out for us but we’re looking forward to it.”
CSUB enters being led by senior forward Jaylin Airington who is averaging 18 ppg and is coming off an 18-point performance where he was 7-11 from the field with 8 rebounds and three assists in the win. Durham is averaging 17 for the Roadrunners who continue to be one of the best defensive teams in the nation being ranked 28th in scoring defense for their 61.3 ppg allowed through the first 8 games.

The Roadrunners then continue on the road and will play Monday night at Northern Arizona. That game is scheduled for 6:30 P.M. (MT) Monday night.
