TUCSON, Ariz.- The CSUB Roadrunners will travel to No. 10 Arizona on Tuesday night for their first of two games against fellow 2016 NCAA Tournament participants this season.

The Wildcats, coming off a 65-63 win over No. 12 Michigan St. in the Armed Forces Classic in Hawaii last Friday are currently ranked 10th in the latest AP poll and will be the highest-ranked opponent CSUB has faced in the regular season. The ‘Runners faced No. 7 Oklahoma last season in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

CSUB won their season opener on Saturday night 96-54 over San Diego Christian. Newcomer Shon Briggs led the way with 21 points in his CSUB debut. He was 9-12 from the field while redshirt sophomore Damiyne Durham scored 20 for CSUB, all of which came in the final 12 minutes. Durham finished the night 7-11 from the field and 6-10 from three-point range.

The Roadrunners took advantage of their size and athleticism in that game outscoring the Hawks 56-18 in the point and outrebounded their opponent 38-15.

Arizona enters coming off the wild finish on Friday night where Kadeem Allen drove the length of the floor with just over ten seconds remaining and scored the game-winning basket with 1.3 seconds left on the clock. Allen had 10 points in the game but the Wildcats were led by freshmen Kobi Simmons’ 18 points in his Arizona debut.

Like the Roadrunners, the Wildcats were in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament falling 65-55 to Wichita State in Providence, Rhode Island. Arizona returns two starters and six letter winners from that team although leading-returning scorer Alonzo Trier has not been active for the Wildcats and there has not been an explanation for his absence. Trier averaged 15 points per game last season for Arizona. CSUB will take on Fresno State on Nov. 22in Bakersfield, the Bulldogs and Wildcats are the only two teams on the ‘Runners schedule this season that were in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

Tuesday night’s game will be televised nationally on the PAC-12 Network. In Bakersfield the channel guide is as follows: AT&T U-verse (1759), Bright House Networks (1140), DISH (409). The game will also be broadcast live on Newstalk 1180 & 96.1 FM KERN beginning at 6:30 P.M. with the ‘Dignity Health Pre Game Show,’ tipoff is scheduled for 7 P.M. Pacific.
