Jonathan Montoya earned his first collegiate start and win on Feb. 21 against St. Louis...struck out five and scattered five hits for three earned runs in seven innings...earned CSUB’s first complete-game victory in 4-3 final against Fresno State (4/4/09)...struck out seven, walked four and scattered five hits for two earned runs in nine innings...concluded the season with a team-high four wins..tallied 57 strikeouts in a team-high 82 2/3 innings.

CHINO HILLS HIGH SCHOOL
Montoya came to Bakersfield from Chino Hills High School where he was a two-time team captain...led the Huskies to the 2008 Sierra League title...first team All-Sierra League...All-Sierra League Academic Athlete...second team All-CIF Southern Section Division II...team placed sixth at the 2008 Anaheim Lions Spring Break Tournament...collected a 9-0 record and 1.80 ERA in 2008...also tallied 44 strikeouts in 62.3 innings pitched...participated in the Inland Valley All-Star Game and the Amateur Baseball Development Group SoCal Senior All-Star Series...2008 Perfect Game USA No. 1,018 ranked player in the nation...was named a 2007 Under Armour preseason All-American and a Teamonebaseball.com West Top 20 prospect...also earned first team All-Sierra League and team MVP honors in 2007.

Montoya was a member of the San Gabriel Valley Arsenal in 2008...was a member of the 2007 USA Junior Olympic Team...went 5-3 with a 2.09 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 2007...winning pitcher for the Cal Rockies at the 2006 Mickey Mantle Regional Championship game...pitched a six-inning, no-hit shutout for the San Gabriel Valley South at the Babe Ruth 16U Regional game on July 12, 2007...pitched five scoreless innings for the Mariners scout team at the Mariners’ Cup Tournament in August 2007.
