BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Roadrunner baseball team took to the field Friday for its first official practice of the 2010 season.
With media interviews mixed in with fielding drills and batting practice, the Roadrunners have exactly three weeks to prepare for their season opener on Friday, Feb. 19. Bakersfield hosts a four-game series against Air Force, beginning Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. Pregame activities for the opening game include honoring current and former members of the armed services, and an Air Force flyover.
The Roadrunners have 28 total home games in 2010, with teams visiting Hardt Field to include Cal, Fresno State, Northern Illinois, Nevada and UC Santa Barbara, among others.
Bakersfield's road schedule boasts a pair of programs picked in the preseason top 25 poll by Baseball America. The Roadrunners will face No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 11 TCU, each in a three-game series on the road.
Additional opponents include Pac-10 members Washington State and USC, and Big West members UC Riverside, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, UC Davis and Pacific.
Season tickets are currently available for purchase. Ticket packages for the 28 games (27 dates) are $130
and just $110 for current Roadrunner Club members. That's a savings of
more than $100 for the season.
