BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield begins a busy baseball week Tuesday night when the Roadrunners travel to UC Irvine for a 6:30 p.m. start.

The Roadrunners (12-11) dropped two-of-three to UTRGV over the weekend. Andrew Penner went 9-of-19 against the Vaqueros to raise his batting average to .447. He leads the Western Athletic Conference in the category and begins the week fifth in Division I in batting. Ryan Grotjohn is hitting .420 for the Roadrunners and sits in second in the WAC behind Penner in the category. His .420 average is 13th Division I to start this week.

UC Irvine lost two of three games against Cal Poly this past weekend to open Big West play. The Anteaters are 12-12 this season. Keston Hiura leads the Anteaters in hitting (.391), doubles (14), home runs (6), RBI’s (21), slugging percentage (.759), and on-base percentage (.505).

Righty Cole Spear (2-2) is scheduled to start for UC Irvine. CSUB has not named a probable starter. In addition to Tuesday night’s game, the Roadrunners will host UCI May 2. The Anteaters lead the all-time series 16-2.
