BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield head men’s soccer coach Richie Grant has announced the signing of five prep players to continue their careers with the Roadrunners.

Enrique “Kike” Aguilar heads across Bakersfield from Golden Valley High School to play for CSUB. Aguilar was selected second team Bakersfield Californian All-Area as a junior and honorable mention Bakersfield Californian All-Area as a sophomore. He was selected as the Player of the Tournament at the 2016 Davis Showcase and was invited to play in the 2012 Dallas Cup with the club team now known as LA Premier FC.

“We are really pleased that Kike has decided to stay here in Bakersfield and continue both his education and soccer career,” Grand said. “His strength and technical ability will help him compete his first year, and as he gains experience he will become an important part of our program.”

Bakary Bagayoko will enter the Roadrunner program from Marble Hill High School which is located in Bronx, N.Y. He has played for teams that won a NPL title, Disney Showcase title, a New York Cup, and a Colorado Nationals title.

“We signed Bakary to score goals,” said Grant. “He is a great lad and he’s wanted to come to CSUB since we first connected.  He looks up to Gyasi Zardes and we can’t think of a better role model for any incoming player.”

Tanner Knorr joins the Roadrunners from Santiago High School in Corona, Calif. Knorr was named Santiago’s Defensive MVP in 2015 and 2016 after being named team MVP in 2013 and 2014. His Corinthians SC Club team finished first in the Coast Soccer League Premier Bracket during the 2016 Fall season.

“Tanner has natural leadership qualities and a maturity in his game,” Grant said. “He has the toughness and determination to compete immediately.  We are really please he chose CSUB.”

Henry Nguyen is the lone international member of the 2017 recruiting class. Nguyen will travel from his native Vantaa, Finland to play for CSU Bakersfield.

"Henry is a top competitor," Grant said. "We like his toughness and his work rate as a central midfielder. He has the determination to compete as a freshman and we become more competitive with him in our program."

Ricardo Soza rounds out the 2017 class. He joins the ‘Runners from Alvarez High School in Salinas, Calif. Soza was named All-League three times and was chosen team MVP in 2015 and 2016. He has led AHS in scoring for the past three seasons as well.
