LOS ANGELES, Calif.–Six members of the CSU Bakersfield water polo program have been selected to the 2012 Western Water Polo Association Women’s All-Academic Team.

Janelle Shelby (Fr., San Diego, Calif., Grossmont HS) leads the Roadrunner selections with a 3.61 GPA in her physical education and kinesology major. Also selected Academic All-Conference were Sam Shead (Jr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS), Bianca Adams (So., Ontario, Calif., St. Lucy's Priory HS), Jessica Browning (Jr., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS), Caitlyn Hill (Fr., Porterville, Calif., Porterville HS), and Malia Pahoa (Sr., Lake Elsinore, Calif., Temescal Canyon HS).

The 62-member team consists of members who carried a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), played in at least 50-percent of the team’s contests inthe sports respective season and was classified as a full-time student who has completeda minimum of one semester or two quarters at his institution.

2012 marked the final season for CSUB in the WWPA as the Roadrunners will move to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the home of every Division I National Champion since the NCAA began offering the national championship 12 seasons ago, in time for the 2013 season.
