RENO, Nev.-A fifth place finish from Frank Lomas (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) at 133 pounds highlighted CSU Bakersfield's stay at the Reno Tournament of Champions Sunday afternoon at the Reno Events Center. 

Wrestling unattached for the Roadrunners, Lomas upset the No. 3 seed, Oregon State's Garrett Drucker, in the round of 16. Lomas defeated Drucker, who is 16th in the national rankings, 3-1. Lomas lost 4-3 to Arizona State's Kalin Goodsite in the quarterfinals.  Lomas defeated teammate Justin Durham (R-Sr., Shingle Springs, Calif., Ponderosa HS) in the consolation round of 16. Lomas advanced to the consolation semifinals before dropping a 5-1 decision to Oregon State's James Roberts. In the fifth place match, Lomas defeated Goodsite in a rematch, 4-3 in overtime.

Freshman Bryce Hammond (Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS), who is redshirting this season, entered the tournament as an unattached wrestler and he turned in a sixth place finish at 165 pounds. Hammond pinned Derek Felton of Arizona State in the first round before losing 4-2 to the fifth seed, Derek Felton of Arizona State.  Hammond won four in a row in the consolation bracket before losing to Felton again in the consolation semifinals. Hammond lost in the fifth place match to the No. 2 seed, Kyle Blevins of Appalachain State 9-2. Blevins is 16th in the current rankings at 165.

Brady Garner (R-Sr., Preston, Idaho, Portland State) advanced to the quarterfinals at 174 before the second seed, Nick Purde of Ohio defeated him 11-7. Garner was pinned by Southern Oregon's Brock Gutchens in the consolation round of 16.

Tyler Iwamura (R-Jr., San Diego, Calif., Santa Fe Christian HS) earned a spot in the quarterfinals of the 125-pound bracket where he was defeated by the fourth seed, Mitchell Lofstedt of southern Oregon 5-2. Iwamura went out in the consolation round of 16 when he lost 3-1 to West Virginia's Shane Young.

CSUB finished in a tie for 16th (15.5) with Stanford. Oklahoma State was the team champion (166).
