BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s softball team will continue Western Athletic Conference play this weekend in Orem, Utah with a series scheduled against Utah Valley. The Roadrunners and Wolverines will play three games on the weekend with a doubleheader scheduled for Friday, Apr. 7, and a single game on Saturday, Apr. 8.

“We are ready to go back out for another tough week of WAC play,” said Crissy Buck-Ziegler, Head Coach of the ‘Runners. “I want to see us play harder and making quicker adjustments this weekend.”

CSUB is coming off of its WAC-opening series in which the ‘Runners dropped three tight games against UMKC. The ‘Runners (5-23, 0-3 WAC) are offensively led by infielder Nicole Curry and outfielders Nadia Amezcua and Julea Cavazos, all teetering around a .300 batting average. In the circle, junior Summer Evans paces CSUB with a 4.39 ERA and has eight complete games on the season.

Utah Valley will welcome CSUB to Orem with a record of 8-15 (0-3 WAC) after being swept at New Mexico State to open WAC play. Senior infielder Brittany Vansway has a team-best .397 batting average and an impressive .795 slugging percentage. Junior transfer Lauren Frailey leads the Wolverines with a 3.44 ERA and five wins.

The ‘Runners and Wolverines have met 26 times in the all-time series, dating back to the 2008 season. Last year, CSUB hosted UVU for a three-game series at the Roadrunner Softball Complex and took the series two games to one.

Due to impending rain, Friday’s single game was turned into a doubleheader that is now set to begin at 1 p.m. (MT). Saturday is now scheduled as a single game at 2 p.m. (MT). Friday’s first game will be broadcasted live via the WAC Digital Network while the other two games of the series will be live streamed on Links to all live streams as well as live stats can be found at the CSUB softball schedule page.
