BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s softball team will continue its home stand with a three-game series this weekend. The Roadrunners will play host to the Gaels of Saint Mary’s, Feb. 25-26, at the Roadrunner Softball Complex.

CSUB (1-8) is fresh off of a tough battle against Cal State Fullerton, a team that was in the NCAA Regionals a year ago and received votes in the first Top 25 poll of the season. The ‘Runners welcomed the Titans to Bakersfield for a doubleheader on Wednesday and fell in both games.

After a career game against CSF on Wednesday, junior infielder Maddi Clark is leading the ‘Runners with a .400 batting average this year. The native of Fresno, Calif. had six RBI in Game 2 of the doubleheader along with a grand slam. The six RBI tied Clark for the CSUB all-time single-game record. Junior transfer Summer Evans leads all ‘Runners in ERA (3.80) and innings pitched (27.2) on the season.

Saint Mary’s will come to Bakersfield with a 4-7 record after a tough, midweek contest against Cal. The Gaels were run-ruled in five innings by the Golden Bears after a seven-run fourth inning led to an 11-0 final score.

The Gaels are offensively led by junior Hailey Sparacino, who has a .323 clip in the first 11 games of the season. Senior Katie Moss has earned a majority of SMC’s starts and has a 1.16 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched. Moss was rocked for six runs against Cal, but all six were unearned as the Gaels committed five errors in the game.

Saturday, Feb. 25, will feature a doubleheader between the ‘Runners and Gaels. First pitch of the day is scheduled for 1 p.m. while Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1. On Sunday, the two teams will wrap up the series with a final game. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. on Sunday at the Roadrunner Softball Complex. Live stats will be available on GoRunners.com for all three games this weekend.
