BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—After a nine-day break, CSU Bakersfield returns to women’s basketball action Wednesday when the Roadrunners travel to UTEP for a 1:05 p.m. MT start. A video stream is available for a fee at utepathletics.com.
UTEP fell to 2-9 after losing a pair of games to Pitt and Alabama at the Patrick Harrington Tournament. The Miners have one common opponent with CSUB in NM State. The Aggies defeated UTEP Dec. 15 67-59 in El Paso. Sparkle Taylor leads the Miners in scoring with a 14.5 points per game average. Tamara Seda paces UTEP in rebounding at 8.6 per game.
The Roadrunners split a pair of games before the Christmas break, winning by 20 (86-66) at UC Irvine Dec. 17 before losing in overtime (62-57) at Pepperdine Dec. 19. Erika Williams was named WAC Player of the Week Dec. 19 after averaging 19 points per game in two contests during the week of Dec. 12-18. She leads the team in scoring (12.9) and begins the week 17th in Division I in three-point shooting percentage (48.5). She is 32nd in made three-point field goals (32), and 58th in three-point field goals made per game (2.67).
Williams became the 11th Roadrunner player to see action in at least 100 career games on Dec. 6, 2016 against Stanislaus State. She has played in 104 career games. She is moving up the ‘Runner career chart in several other categories. She is now fifth in career three-pointers (141), career three-pointers attempted (396).
