After the first two CSUB batters were retired, Mark Pena reached on an infield single and advanced to third on an Andrew Penner single. David Metzgar’s opposite field base hit to right plated Pena. Carter walked to load the bases. Nebraska closer Chad Luensmann balked in the tying run in Penner. He walked Ryan Grotjohn to load the bases again, setting the stage for Mahlik Jones who went down 0-2 in the count to Luensmann. Jones singled up the middle to score David Metzgar and Max Carter for the game winning runs.

Pena, Penner, and Jones each posted three hits for the Roadrunners who tallied 16 for the night. Metzgar, Carter, and Grotjohn each charted two hits. Grotjohn is now 7-for-8 at the plate dating back to last Sunday at UC Riverside. Jones drove in three runs.
