BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Riding a five-game winning streak, CSU Bakersfield welcomes BYU to Hardt Field this week for a three-game series.

Thursday and Friday’s games will begin at 6 p.m. and will be available on the Roadrunner Sports Network (via and ESPN 98.1 FM/1230 AM. Corey Costelloe’s pregame show on ESPN 98.1 FM/1230 AM begins at 5:45 p.m. The series finale will get underway on Saturday at 12 p.m.   

BYU is 3-4 entering this week’s play. The Cougars split four games against Northern Colorado and San José State last week. Brock Hale leads the team in hitting (.357). Hale has one home run and four RBI’s. BYU has hit eight home runs as a team in seven games this season.

On Thursday, Maverik Buffalo is scheduled to face CSUB’s Max Carter before Brady Corless takes on Mahlik Jones in Friday’s second game. Isaiah Moten is the Roadrunner probable starter on Saturday. The Cougars have not named a Saturday starter. This is the first time CSUB is facing BYU in baseball.

Pitching was at the forefront as the Roadrunners won all five games last week. CSUB pitchers struck out 51 during the week which included a 2-1 victory over No. 24/26 UC Santa Barbara. Carter's 11 strikeouts were a career high as three of the five starters during the week reset career marks for most strikeouts in a game. Jake Ortega hit .545 for the week with four runs scored and three RBI’s.
