The Utes defeated the Roadrunners 15-3 Sunday afternoon. Ryan Grotjohn hit .636 against Utah. Grotjohn posted six consecutive hits to open the year. Andrew Penner and Max Carter both charted five hits during the series.
UC Santa Barbara dropped two of three games at Loyola Marymount last weekend. The Gauchos are ranked 24th in the Baseball America Top 25 and 26 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 to begin the week. Clay Fisher hit .364 with one home run and three RBI’s during the LMU series. Chris Clements, a righty, is the Gauchos’ probable starter. CSUB has not named a starter for the UC Santa Barbara game.
