GREELEY, Colo.--Bakersfield (20-26, 12-9 WAC) held on for a 4-3 victory at Northern Colorado (7-40, 1-20 WAC) to complete the series sweep of the Bears Sunday afternoon at Jackson Field.

Bakersrfield led 4-0 going into the bottom of the ninth. Ryan Yamane singled off of 'Runners starter Austin Davis (R-So., Scottsdale, Ariz., Desert Mountain HS) to open the inning. After Brandon Vaughn struck out, Nick Miller was hit by a pitch. Ben Netzel singled through the right side to score Yamane and advance Miller to third. Andrew Coffman singled through the left side to plate Miller to make it 4-2.

Davis struck out pinch hitter Bryan Tibbitts for the second out. Colby Harrison singled up the middle which brought Netzel home and moved  Coffman to third. Max Carter (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS), the CSUB closer, relieved Davis to face Dan Reese. Reese worked the count to 3-2 against Carter, but Carter got the strikeout to pick up his fifth save of the season and secure the victory for Bakersfield.

For the second day in a row the Roadrunner 7-8-9 hitters; David Metzgar (Fr., Lancaster, Calif., Paraclete HS) (2), Ross Hough (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Central Arizona College) (2), Oscar Sanay (Sr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) (3) all recorded at least two hits. Mylz Jones (So., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) and Chance Gusbeth (So., Lancaster, Calif., Desert Christian HS) both charted two hits. Davis went 8.2 inning, striking out eight. He scattered eight hits and did not walk a batter.

The Roadrunners host the final five home games of the 2014 campaign this week. The homestand begins Tuesday with a 6 p.m. matchup against UC Santa Barbara.
