NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--Bakersfield (8-11) defeated Cal State Northridge (8-14) 3-2 in baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field.

The Roadrunners took the lead in the top of the second on a Logan Trowbridge (Jr., Santa Cruz, Calif., College of San Mateo) RBI triple. Andrew Lojewski (Jr., Woodland, Calif., American River College) smacked a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to increase the 'Runner advantage.

The Matadors got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Raslowsky recorded an RBI single. Dylan Alexander made it 3-2 with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Centerfielder David Metzgar (Fr., Lancaster, Calif., Paraclete HS) prevented the score from being tied when he threw out Alexander at the plate when Alexander attempted to score on a Michael Livingston single.

Max Carter (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) , the third CSUB pitcher of the day, retired the first eight batters he faced after coming on in the seventh before walking Livingston with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Pinch-hitter Nick Murphy singled through the right side, moving Livingston up a base. Northridge leadoff hitter Ranny Lowe hit into ground out to Metzgar (who had moved to second) for the final out and the save.

Carter, Alec Daily (Fr., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS), Garrett Nimmo (Fr., Temecula, Calif., Temecula Valley HS), and Carter combined on a five-hitter. Trowbridge also had two hits. Carter also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
