BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-CSU Bakersfield pitcher Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) recorded his second consecutive shutout to lead CSU Bakersfield (11-6) past Northern Colorado (4-8) 12-0 Friday night.

The Roadrunners got McKeznie a bunch of support early, scoring three runs in each of the first three innings.  The 6-0 lefty took it from there. McKenzie retired the first 15 Bears he faced as CS before issuing a walk to Ben Netzel to lead off the top of the sixth. Joe Love recorded the first Northern Colorado hit, a single to left, with one out in the sixth.

McKenzie struck out 11 including the side in the ninth. He allowed four hits and gave up the lone walk. It was McKenzie's second straight shutout and he has not given up a run in his last 18 innings pitched.

Cael Brockmeyer (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) went 3-for-4 with three RBI's. Tyler Shryock (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Tehachapi HS) also went 3-for-4. Shryock had one RBI.

Mylz Jones (Fr., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) posted two hits. Kevin Younger (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) tallied two hits and three RBI's. Freshman Chris Mallon (Granada Hills, Calif., Kennedy HS) posted his first varsity hit and drove in the final two runs with his double in the eight.

The Roadrunners and the Bears continue the series Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Pregame festivities for CSUB's Military Appreciation Day begin at 1:30 p.m.
