BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Jeff McKenzie (Jr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) struck out 12 as the 6-0 left tossed a complete game three-hitter as CSU Bakersfield (13-15) defeated Santa Clara (17-10) 4-0 Friday night at Hardt Field.

It was McKenzie's first shutout at CSUB and the third consecutive complete game by a Roadrunner pitcher dating back to Apr. 1. The 12 strikeouts are the second most in a game by a Roadrunner pitcher. Mike McCarthy struck out 13 against Fresno State during the 2010 season.

CSUB scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning. The Roadrunners received RBI's from Cael Brockmeyer (So., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS), Andrew Letourneau (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College), and Tyler Shryock (So., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) during the frame.

Brockmeyer went 3-for-3 with a walk while Letourneau posted two hits. Frank Martinez (Jr., Riverside, Calif., East L.A. College) also recorded two hits.

The series concludes with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m.
