SANTA BARBARA, Calif--Spenser Messmore (Sr., Granada Hills, Calif. (Alemany HS) tossed his second straight complete game as CSU Bakersfield (12-14) defeated UC Santa Barbara (14-13) 8-2 Tuesday afternoon.

Messmore, who entered the game third in Division I in ERA (0.67), allowed just six Gaucho hits and struck out four along the way. He threw 113 pitches as he improved to 3-1 on the season.

The Roadrunners offensive provided plenty of support for Messmore as CSUB scored four runs in the first three innings and led 8-0 after 6 1/2. Cael Brockmeyer (So., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) and Frank Martinez (Jr., Riverside, Calif., East L.A. College) both hit home runs for CSU Bakersfield. Brockumeyer, Martinez, and Oscar Sanay (So., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) drove in two runs each. Martinez and Sanay each posted two hits.

The Roadrunners open a three-game series Friday night against Santa Clara beginning at 6 p.m.
