The Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead on a Martin Medina (Jr., Ventura, Calif., St. Bonaventure HS) RBI single in the top of the first. Wade Hinkle put the Wildcats into the lead with a singled that drove in two runs in the bottom of the first. Kansas State would score three runs in the second for a 5-1 advantage. Kevin Younger's (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) single in the fourth drove in DC Legg (Jr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College).
Medina narrowed the K-State lead in the fifth with a two-run home run to make it 5-4. Younger tied the game in the sixth with a single that plated Legg. The Wildcats regained the lead in the seventh when Jason King tripled in Nick Martini in the bottom of the seventh. King later scored on a Jonathan Montoya (Jr., Chino Hills, Calif., Chino Hills HS) wild pitch. Kansas State added one more run in the bottom of the eighth.
Jeremy Rodriguez's (Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Crespi HS) two-out double in the top of the ninth drove in Andrew Letourneau (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) to make it 8-6 and bring up Medina as the tying run. K-State closer James Allen earned his 15th save of the year when he got Medina to fly out to end the game.
Medina went 3-for-5, driving in three runs. Younger was 2-for-3 as was Legg. Hinkle paced the Wildcats as he was 3-for-3 with his two RBI's. Jake Brown went 3-for-4 with a run scored while Martini was 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Jason King drove in three runs. Montoya dropped to 7-3 on the year. Evan Marshall, K-State's fourth pitcher of the night was the winner to improve to 4-4 on the year.
