BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--No. 17 UC Irvine (28-12) defeated CSUB (25-15) 7-0 to clinch the three-game series May 1 at Hardt Field.

The Anteaters outhit the Roadrunners 15-4, scoring one run in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the ninth. Christian Ramirez and Drew Hillman each charted three hits for UCI. Three other players posted two hits for the Anteaters. Matt Whitehouse allowed three hits in a career high eight innings before giving way to UCI closer Brian Hernandez in the ninth.

Oscar Sanay (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) extended his hitting streak to 13 by going 2-for-4 on the day. Sanay has now recorded at least one hit in 36 of the 40 CSUB games this season.

The Roadrunners travel to Kansas State for a two-game series beginning on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. (PDT) both days.
