NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--CSUB head coach Bill Kernen picked up his 300th career victory as CSUB (21-7) defeated Cal State Northridge (15-15) 15-5 Apr. 8 . Kernen, who served as Northridge's head coach from 1989-95, is now 300-230-3 in 9+ seasons as a collegiate head coach.

A five-run rally in the top of the first was highlighted by DC Legg (Jr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College) three-run home run. The Roadrunners scored one run in the second and posted four runs in the third. CSUB recorded five more runs in the top of the seventh.

Oscar Sanay (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) went 4-for-6 with two runs scored two RBI's. Ryan McIntyre (Jr., Henderson, Nev., Coronado HS) continued his hot hitting. McIntyre, who went 9-for-16 during the Santa Clara series, was 4-for-5 with two RBI's and two runs scored.

Andrew Letourneau (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) and Martin Medina (Jr., Ventura, Calif., St. Bonaventure HS) both tallied two hits and two RBI's. Legg and Tyler Shryock (Fr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) also had two hits. Six of the nine Roadrunner starters had at least two RBI's.

Mike McCarthy (R-Sr., Brentwood, Calif., Univ. of Redlands) went the distance. The 6-3 righty allowed seven hits and struck out eight.

The CSUB-CSUN series moves to Hardt Field Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game is set for 6 p.m. while Sunday's play will begin at 1 p.m.
