BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSUB (3-2) earned a 5-4 victory over the University of Washington (1-3) Feb. 25 at Hardt Field.

CSUB took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Tyler Shryock (Fr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) doubled in DC Legg (Jr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College) and Mick Gaston (Quartz Hill, Calif., Quartz Hill HS). The Huskies got on back in the top of the third before the Roadrunners responded in the bottom of the frame.

Ryan McIntyre (Jr., Henderson, Nev., Coronado HS) posted a double that plated Jeremy Rodriguez (Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Crespi HS) and Martin Medina (Jr., Ventura, Calif., St. Bonaventure HS). Gaston doubled in Oscar Sanay (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) to complete the CSUB outburst.

Washington scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to close to within one run. In the top of the eighth, Washington threatened. The Huskies had runners on first and second with one out when Runner starter Tommy Hohenshell (Jr., Orange County, Calif., Cypress College) got B.K. Santy to fly out. Pinch-hitter Ryan Wiggins struck out to end the inning.  Medina moved from first to the mound in the ninth and earned his second save of the year by retiring the Huskies in order.

Hoenshell went eight innings and struck out six to earn the victory. Rodrigurez continued his hot start by going 2-for-4 with two doubles. He is now 11-for-21 (.529) in the first six CSUB games this season. McIntyre was 2-for-4 as well.

CSUB and Washington continue their series Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. A poor weather forecast on Friday moved the game up an hour from 2 p.m. to a 1 p.m. start. Poor weather is again forecasted for the Bakersfield area on Saturday, so head to for the latest information.
