BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSUB (2-2) defeated the University of San Francisco (0-4) 6-2 in Monday baseball action at Hardt Field.

CSUB got on the board in the bottom of the third when Ryan McIntyre (Jr., Henderson, Nev., Coronado HS) singled home Mick Gaston (Jr., Quartz Hill, Calif., Quartz Hill HS) and Martin Medina (Jr., Ventura, Calif., St. Bonaventure HS). The Dons got one back in the top of the sixth.

Tyler Shryock (Fr.. Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) drove in Andrew Letourneau (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) to give the Roadrunners a two-run advantage in the bottom of the seventh. USF again made it a one-run game in the top of the eighth, but CSUB broke the game open in the bottom of the frame.

Letourneau drove in Imaad Nuriddin (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) with a single which was followed right up by an Oscar Sanay (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) single which plated Letourneau and McIntyre for the final 6-2.

Brandon Van Dam (Jr., Lancaster, Calif., Quartz Hill HS) picked up the victory by allowing four hits over the first five innings. Van Dam pitched out of trouble in the first and the third by getting the Dons to hit into a double play to end each threat. Shryock, Spenser Messmore (Jr., Granada Hills, Calif., Alemany HS) and Tommy Hoenshell (Jr., Orange County, Calif., Cypress College) combined for four innings of three-hit relief. The quartet allowed two runs, only one of which was earned.

The Roadrunners charted 16 hits led by Jeremy Rodriguez (Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Crespi HS) who went 4-for-5. Letourneau was 3-of-5 with two runs scored. Nuriddin and McIntyre each posted two hits.

CSUB returns to Hardt Field Feb. 25 to begin a three-game series against the University of Washington. Friday's game gets underway at 2 p.m.
