GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas—Bakersfield (37-21) walked a school record 12 times as four 'Runner pitchers combined on a four hittter as the Roadrunners defeated Sacramento State (33-25) 7-1 in game two of Western Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday night.

The 12 walks broke the old mark of 11 which occurred twice previous, most recently, Mar. 23, 2009 against Cal Poly. Kevin Younger (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) walked a school record four times.  The old mark was 3 which was posted on 12 previous occasions, most recently by Brockmeyer on Mar. 16 against Northern Colorado. As a team, the Roadrunners walked 12 times, a new school record. 

Jonathan Montoya (R-Sr., Chino Hills, Chino Hills HS) started the game and went the first five and gave up just two hits. James Barragan (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) took over in the sixth, pitching three innings, giving up two hits and the lone Hornets’ run. Chuck Buchanan (R-Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., AllanHancock College) and Taylor Aikenhead (Jr., Lancaster, Calif., Bakersfield College) combined for a 1-2-3 ninth.

The ‘Runners used patience at the plate. CSUB scored once in the third, twice in the sixth, three times in the eighth, and once in the ninth. Jordie Hein (So., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS), Tyler Shryock (Jr., Tehacahpi, Calif., Desert Christian HS), and and Cael Brockmeyer (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) each posted two hits. Dylan Christensen (Sr., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., SaddlebackCollege) drove in two runs.

The winner of Friday’s Bakersfield-UTSA game will advance to Sunday’s WAC Tournament Championship game. UTSA and CSUB are both 2-0 in pool play.
