ARLINGTON, Texas--CSU Bakersfield earned its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference series victory Sunday when the Roadrunners (21-11, 6-3 WAC) defeated UT Arlington (16-14, 6-3 WAC) 6-5 in 10 innings.

CSUB took advantage of back-to-back hit batters in the 10th to load the bases. Cael Brockmeyer (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) drove in Jordie Hein (So., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS) for the gamewinning run.

UTA had a chance to tie in the bottom of the tenth with a runner on first and two outs. Brandon Lawrence sent a hard hit ball to left-center field that appeared to score Justin Copeland from first. However, the ball wedged itself underneath the fence and was ruled a ground-rule double. Copeland had to return to third base. Darien McClemore's hard smash to short was stopped by Tyler Shryock (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) and he tossed to first to end the game.

The teams both scored two runs in the second before the Roadrunners went ahead with three in the fourth. The Mavericks chipped away, scoring in the fifth and seventh before tying the score in the eighth. Both teams had chances as the squads combined to leave 29 runners on base.

Shryock, the WAC leader in hits, recorded at least four his in a game for the third time this season as he was 4-for-5 with an RBI. Brockmeyer was 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Oscar Sanay (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) posted two hits (2-for-4) with an RBI.

Bakersfield and Arlington remain tied for first in the league. Dallas Baptist, Sacramento State, and Texas State are a game back at 5-4.

CSUB opens a five-game homestand this week when the Roadrunners host No. 23 Cal Poly Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
