BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—In the first ever WAC baseball game at Hardt Field, Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) tossed his third complete game in his last four starts as CSU Bakersfield (18-8, 3-1 WAC) defeated New Mexico State (14-13, 1-3 WAC) 4-0 Thursday night.

McKenzie allowed four hits, struck out nine, and picked off two Aggies at first base. McKenzie walked three as he faced 31 Aggies, four over the minimum. Since Mar. 1, McKenzie has given up two runs, one earned (35.2 innings pitched). The 6-0 lefty lowered his ERA to 1.17 on the season.

Tyler Shryock’s (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) triple in the bottom of the sixth plated Kevin Younger (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) for the first run of the night. Mylz Jones (Fr., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) extended hits hitting streak to 17 when his bunt single scored Shyrock. The third Roadrunner of the inning came home on an Aggies’ balk.

Cael Brockmeyer (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) charted his team leading 25th RBI of the year in the eighth with a sacrifice fly to score Younger. Shyrock and Younger both recorded two hits.

The Aggies and Roadrunners continue the league series Friday night at 6 p.m.
