LOS ANGELES, Calif.—USC took advantage of five CSU Bakersfield errors to defeat the Roadrunners 6-5 Friday night at Dedeaux Field.

The Trojans (10-3) took the lead in the bottom of the second when Jake Hernandez grounded out second to plate Kevin Roundtree for the first run of the night. Roundtree reached on a CSUB (7-7) error to open the inning. The bottom of the fifth saw McKenzie hit Omar Cotto Lozada with two outs. Cotto Lozada stole second and came around to score on a CSUB error.

Kevin Younger (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) tied the game in the top of the sixth with a triple to center that scored Tyler Shryock (So., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS). Dylan Christensen (Jr., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Saddleback College). Christensen gave the Roadrunners the lead in the top of the seventh when he singled up the middle to score DC Legg (R-Sr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College) and Cael Brockmeyer (So., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS).

A walk, an error and a CSUB balk combined with a pair of hits helped the Trojans score two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Roadrunners went up 5-4 in the eighth when Brockmeyer’s pop up to first was bobbled by Matt Foat allowing Oscar Sanay (So., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) to score.

Adam Landecker reached on the fifth CSUB error of the night to begin the ninth inning. Matt Foat singled to right to advance Landecker to third. Kevin Roundtree tied the game ground out to second to score Landecker and move Foat into scoring position at second. Kevin Swick’s single to center scored Foat for the gamewinning run.

All six Trojans’ runs were unearned. USC outhit the Roadrunners 10-5 with Landecker and Roundtree each posting two hits. Christensen was 2-of-4 for CSUB.
