BAKERSFIELD, Calif.— DC Legg (R-Sr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College) became the fifth CSU Bakersfield baseball player to hit two home runs in a single game (the first since 2010) as the Roadrunners defeated Kansas State 8-1 Monday afternoon at Hardt Field.

Trailing 1-0, Legg put CSUB ahead for good when he smacked a three-run shot down the left field line. His second home run was a solo blast in the bottom of the eighth. Legg drove in of the three CSUB runs in the third as he ended the day with five RBI’s.

Oscar Sanay (So., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Sanay, the Roadrunners’ second baseman is hitting .538 on the young season (7-of-13). Tyler Shryock (So., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) and Andrew Letourneau (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) each tallied two hits. Shyrock also had an RBI.

Taylor Aikenhead (So., Lancaster, Calif., Bakersfield College) made his first start for CSUB a memorable one as he tossed a complete game three-hitter. The 6-0 lefty threw 147 pitches, striking out seven along the way.

“We are trying to get these guys better every single day,” said CSUB head coach Bill Kernen. “We had some guys take their first college at-bats today and a pitcher who was making his first start like the last two days. So that’s where we are at right now, we do not know who we are going to end up being. I think we will be better than we are right now and improve every day like we did in the Fall.”
