BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield head men's soccer coach Richie Grant has announced the 2017 Roadrunner schedule.

CSUB will have a pair of exhibitions, first at Loyola Marymount Aug. 16, the second at home against UC Irvine Aug. 19. The lone non-conference home match will be the season opener on Aug. 25 when UC Riverside comes to the Main Soccer Field.

CSUB embarks on a seven-game road trip that will take up the month of September. The Roadrunners begin the trip with a swing through the Sacramento area Sept. 1 and Sept. 3 at Sac State and UC Davis. The ‘Runners travel to UNLV for the Johann Memorial Classic Sept. 15 and Sept. 17 when CSUB faces Gonzaga and St. Francis (Pa.). The non-conference portion of the schedule ends Sept. 23 at Cal Poly before Western Athletic Conference play begins Sept. 29 at Seattle U.

CSUB returns home Oct. 1 when the Roadrunners welcome defending league regular season champion, Utah Valley to the Main Soccer Field. CSUB is at home Oct. 6 and Oct. 8 against Grand Canyon and UNLV. The Roadrunners return to the road with three conference games in Texas against Houston Baptist (Oct. 12), UTRGV (Oct. 20) and UIW (Oct. 22).

The final home games of the season are set for Oct. 27 and Oct. 29 against UMKC and Air Force respectively. The regular season concludes Nov. 3 at San José State. UNLV hosts the WAC Tournament which will begin Nov. 8.

“Our non-conference schedule is very challenging and designed to prepare us for October when we begin our WAC matches,” Grant said.

“We have a nice balance with our travel and out of region games.  We look forward to a home opener with Riverside and our schedule features a lot of Friday Sunday challenges, consistent with our conference. This year also marks the 20-year anniversary of the 1997 NCAA National Championship team, so we are looking forward to Alumni Weekend against UCI and a home game that we can acknowledge our 1997 squad.”
