BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Giovana Melo, CSU Bakersfield's director of volleyball, has announced the 2017 Roadrunner schedule.

CSUB will preview the squad Aug. 19 during the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage before opening the season Aug. 25-26 at the Arkansas Invitational. The ‘Runners will face the host Razorbacks, Utah State, and Louisiana-Monroe. CSUB travels to the South Dakota State Invitational Sept. 1-2 when the Roadrunners take on Valparaiso, the host Jackrabbits, and Northern Arizona.

The ‘Runners travel to Fresno State Sept. 5 before Bulldogs head to the Icardo Center Sept. 12 for the home opener. Both matches begin at 6 p.m. In between the two Fresno State matches, CSUB travels to the Northern Arizona Invite Sept. 8-9 where the Roadrunners face Northern Arizona and Utah State for the second time. The Roadrunners also play Arizona State during the tournament.

CSUB concludes the non-conference portion of the schedule Sept. 15-16 at a tournament that is co-hosted by UC Irvine and Long Beach State. The Roadrunners will take on San Francisco, UCI, as well as Montana State during the meet.

The Western Athletic Conference state begins Sept. 21 at Chicago State. The first of seven home WAC matches occurs Sept. 28 against Seattle U. The conference tournament will be hosted by UTRGV Nov. 16-18 in Edinburg, Texas. For season ticket information, call 654-BLUE or head to GoRunners.com/Tix.

“We have another tough schedule in front of us but I am excited for the challenge,” Melo said. “I am excited to see if we can rise to the challenge this year. We have to put ourselves in good position for the starting of conference.”
