LOS ANGELES—CSU Bakersfield goalie Courtney Wahlstrom made nine saves to enter the top 10 in MPSF history in career saves as No. 2 Stanford defeated No. 22 CSUB 14-2 in the first round of the MPSF Tournament.Friday morning at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center.

Wahlstrom raised her career total to 902. She is now just one of seven MPSF goalies in league history with at least 900 career saves and is ninth in conference history in career saves going into day two of the tournament. Wahlstrom also added two steals against the Cardinal.

Maggie Steffens recorded four goals in the first half as the Cardinal scored on four of their first six attempts. The Stanford (19-2) defense forced five turnovers on the first five Roadrunner possessions as the ‘Runners turned the ball over 14 times in the opening 16 minutes. Stanford led 9-2 at half. Katie Dudley completed a hat trick in the second half as the Cardinal scored five times.Nicola Barrett and Jada Helberg tallied the Roadrunner goals.

"Our flow was a little off to start game," said CSUB head coach Jason Gall. "We only earned one exclusion for the entire game which makes it hard to get on the scoreboard. Our subs did a really nice job coming in off the bench and brought great energy and effort."

The Roadrunners (12-16) fall into the consolation bracket and will face the sixth seed, San Jose State (10-22) Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Spartans lost 17-2 to USC in the second match on Friday at UCLA.
