NAMPA, Idaho – CSU Bakersfield’s women’s indoor track and field team wrapped up the 2017 Western Athletic Conference Championships with one final day of competition on Saturday. The highlight of the day for the Roadrunners was Marina Emhoff’s All-Conference performance in the 400m dash.

“Marina earned All-WAC with a big indoor personal best,” said Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, Director of Track and Field at CSUB. “I am very pleased with her effort. Now it’s time to focus on outdoors. We’ll regroup from some disappointments and get ready to fight another day.”

Emhoff qualified for the finals with a solid time on Friday and lowered her personal best indoor mark to 57.45 in the finals on Saturday. The time was good enough for a fourth-place finish, earning Bakersfield's redshirt senior Second Team All-Conference honors.

Junior Angel Valdez finished the 3000m in 26th place with a time of 10:50.65. The mark was a new season-best for Valdez by almost a minute. Freshman Irma Torres finished 34th overall in 11:50.22.

Junior Susannah Vera competed in the high jump and placed seventh, just one spot away from All-WAC honors. Vera posted a season-best mark of 5-02.50 in Idaho.

The women’s 4x400 relay finished in eighth place with a time of 4:03.48. The run by Emhoff, Tricia Cervantes, Mariah LeSure, and Vera closed out the 2017 WAC Indoor Championships. As a team, the ‘Runners finished eighth of eight teams with 14 points.
